The ONA Labor Cabinet (formerly known as the Cabinet on Economic and General Welfare) is responsible
for all labor policies and activities of the Oregon Nurses Association in fulfillment of ONA’s mission and strategic plan. This cabinet is responsible for the approval of all grievance arbitrations and local bargaining unit bylaws,
oversees ONA’s relationship with other unions, AFT, and AFL-CIO, authorizes organizing activities for collective bargaining, and approves the budget for the defense, strike, and bargaining unit grant funds.
The Labor Cabinet is comprised of nine (9) members holding the seats as set by the cabinet pursuant to its adopted policies. The Labor Cabinet is accountable to the House of Delegates and coordinates its activities with
the Board of Directors, other ONA cabinets and has representation on ONA’s two political action committees (PACs), National Federation of Nurses, and the AFL-CIO Executive Board.
A member’s term of office is three years and the Cabinet Chair and Vice-Chair are selected by Cabinet members annually from among its members. The Assistant Executive Director of Labor Relations is the assigned staff that works closely in consultation
